My engine may have extensive damage because of my fan belt flying off and all kidns of fun stuff like that. I'm getting it looked at very closely within the next couple of days. I was told that there is no for sure way to tell what kind of damage but I may need to be looking around for a new engine. I can't afford a V8 because of insurance so thats out of the question. what i was wondering was if i should stay with the 3.8 or go to a 4.3 from an s10. which way would give me more hp? Thanks for all your help guys.

... 3.8 will be a hell of alot cheeper to do and a bazzillion time easyer.. if you "NEED" to do an engine swap..

    BUT!

if you are looking for a project/challenge i here the s-10 engine is feasible.. but I have never seen it in person or anything..

the 4.3 in the S10 is a kick *** motor. Turbo S10 SS trucks can run down in the 11s. The 4.3 is literlay a 350 with 2 cyl missing. u can use 350 rods and pistons. So it makes it all easy when doin a perf rebuild.
