  • Engine size?

In about a year I am planning on dropping a crate engine on my camaro. I know most noticeably, I will have to replace the tranny, rear end, and springs obviously so far, and I was wondering which is the biggest engine I would be able to fit in the bay? I am willing to swap hoods if necessary. I really wanted either a 452 or 502 cu in.

How much do you guys think all this would come to just so that I can have an estimate. I plan to do the work with my dad. He knows how to do this stuff but he is old school and he has only done stuff like this in cars from the 50s. So he knows little about the exact parts that I need for an fbody.

I think they make a Big Block K-member now so it depends on how much you want to modify your engine bay.. Good Luck

BMr does make a K-member for this application so putting a big block in there won't be a big problem. We did a similar swap but just put a SBC 350 in there. We put LT1 longtube headers on it and they worked perfect! For the carb situation, we had to trim a bunch of the plastic overhand piece to make room also. Those are the 2 main things that stand out in my mind that took specialty parts or enginuity.

might wanna look into a cowl hood for a big block

merlin the biggest I engine you can toss in there with out moding the engine bay is the 350. But theoreticly you can put in any size you want. It just depends on how far your pocket goes.

their are plenty of engine builders that make small blocks with big cid. I've seen 502 small blocks use something like that.
