  • Help me choose a head gasket/need part#

Heres the situation. I decided to not do the heads/cam swap myself. I am going to pay a guy to do it. He highly recomended using GM gaskets and head bolts. I have already purchased the following:

    GM intake gaskets
    GM valve cover gaskets
    GM Head bolts
    GM Rocker arm bolts
    GM timing chain
    FELPRO head gaskets
    FELPRO head bolts

He said all the parts are fine except the FELPRO stuff. He doesnt like using FELPRO head gaskets and head bolts. He says with the power I will be making it would be much safer to run GM gaskets and bolts. Now this is really going to rain on my parade because It will now take longer than expected to get the car going because I have to wait for GM head gaskets. So do you guys think I should make him use the FELPRO stuff or should I go order some GM gaskets.

Also the only gaskets I could find for the heads came in a kit. Now that I have already purchased the intake gasket kit and I have new valve cover gaskets I have no need for the complete kit. Is there a part number for ONLY the head gaskets not the whole kit. IF there is not do you think GMpartsdirect will let me exchange the gasket kits?

I need help ASAP, I really need to get this thing running. Please help.

Oh and if you have any part #'s for the head bolts and the head gaskets please post.

Check out my site listed below in the V6 Internal Engine section. It should help you with part numbers. Also, for the head bolts:
    25527831
    25533811
    are the GM part numbers.

Lemme know if you have any questions.

I would stick with GM head bolts just to be sure. As for the head gaskets, I haven't heard anything bad about the felpro stuff. I have stock head gaskets on mine. Running 10psi+ of boost and around 300HP at the crank. I would just stick with GM, because it will be easier to return the felpro stuff than send back to GM parts direct.

Sorry, don't have any part numbers.

I think these part numbers are different. These are for the 3.4

Those were all for the 3.8L V6.

The 25533811 changed to 88891770...I didn't see my note here when I posted earlier.

Also, for those interested, the GM Head Gasket #12539095 is a kit containing:
Head Gaskets, Intake Manifold Gaskets, Intake Seals and Rocker Arm (valve cover) gaskets. Just a little FYI.
