IMO... don't waste your time swapping another V6 in. Save up and swap an LT1 into yours, you will be much more happy in the long run.

I have no knowledge of Hawgs performing a V6 to V6 swap on his current car. So why would it be ironic if he suggested to step up to the LT1 instead of a 3.8?
In regards to your original question Kain, as far as I know, most accessories you have will be able to be used in that swap. I think the bellhousing on the newer transmissions is different,,You would need the longblock 3.8 engine, and same year PCM. Though my advice doesn't seem that helpful since there is a lot of doubt in my answers (I'm not familiar with this swap) it is still more advice than anyone offered thus far
However, I also suggest swapping in a V8 if you're going to go through the trouble of an engine swap. Weight savings just seems like a lame excuse to me. I believe most imports are a lot lighter than an F-body. Have you looked into those?94 Camaro 3.4 A4
T-Tops
In the process of an LS1 swap.

I don't like to follow the crowd so an import is not an option' and an import will never have the torque of detroit pushrod engine. As for the weight its not the overall weight that I'm concerned about. It's the f/r weight ratio. Right now its 50/50 I don't want to change that.
p.s. thanks for your help hawgs

Kain you would be surprised, I think a cast iron 3.8L might be close in weight the the aluminum LS1... especially if you add the weight of a turbo kit. Heads/Cam a LS1 and you will have more power than the turbo 3.8L without waiting for boost. Well, more hp compared to the numbers I've seen so far.
If you have your heart set on a 3.8L swap I would ask Magnus, I believe he knows a lot about that swap.Sinister Six©
My \'95 Bird
I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship.

Thanks Camaro_SLP.
The weight difference between an LT1 and a L36 cannot be that much. An LS1 weighs 14 pounds more then the L36, and I know the LT1 is an iron block so it cannot be that much more... maybe 70 pounds more then the LS1 at most.
If you're looking for torque then LT1 be your only choice. Torque all the time without waiting for it to spool up.
Again... just my opinion.

yeah but if you want to drop in an ls1 or lt1 you have to completely change out the entier drive train. Engine, tranny, drive shaft, rear end, suspension. If you have the money and time to do all that then go ahead and change it to the v8. But if your like me and money is extreamly tight then swaping one v6 for a bigger v6 is the best thing to do. I would like to put the 3.8L V6 in my camaro along with a 5 speed manual tranny after I get some other work done on it.

I agree with hawgs. Even in drifting and if you have a V8 up front, if you get on the gas... I garantee you wont have understeer. Only the opposite. Go with a v8....
I have owned both... not worth it...
the 3.8L may be more powerful but it doesn't have the guts down low like the 3.4L has... Don't think of a 3.8L as a more powerful 3.4L its a completely different motor, you have to "rev it up" persay to get more power out of it. At tiems I kinda think my 3.4L had a better powerband for autocrossing hten my 3.8L does, but the 3.8L does do better in the 1/4.
Go with a v8, advantage of a v8 is you can do power oversteer.
As for changing the drive line? If you are drifting you want LSD, gears, well you decide if you want gears, I see it likely. If you put anypower in your car(hell even stock) you shoudl get rid of your crappy 2 piece driveshaft.
As for an lt1 swap, from what I understand, the AC is interchagneable so you can keep your stock AC, and swap the motor in.
In the end there is just as much work involved in putting a lt1 in as there is putting a 3.8L in.
IF you must have a v6, have you considered a GN motor swap?

Why can't you people just answer his question or not say anything at all? He already said that he didn't want a V8, regardless of the reason. I can't think of how many times I have heard someone say, this is a V6 site, not a V6 to V8 swap site.
Swapping a V6 for a V8 is just for people who are too lazy to be creative about making hp. I guess that's just not for me.

He said he wants torque... swapping to a turboed 3.8 is not the way to go. LT1 will produce torque all over the place and will be much easier to swap in then a L36.
What about your car Jerriko? I guess you swapped a 3.4 in it? 15.4 isnt creative about making HP.
I will be swapping a big cube motor into mine in 1 year... when I am running 10s tell me I am not creative about making HP.

Creative hp these days is hard to come by! Everybody has done a V8, turbo, super, there aren't many other ways of making power so nobody is really creative anymore Maybe creative would be if you some how made some synthetic feet and instead of tires you made a 600 foot power flintstones car?
