That coming from someone w/ a V6. How ironic, don't you think?
And as far as the statement you made..

I must agree with Hawgs, V8's are nniicccceee. And for the subject, correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't ya just need a newer bellhouseing (can't spell) and the cpu from that motor, and might go for a one piece driveshaft? (I'm very obease) -Bob-

Sorry, I guess I like wasting everyone's time 'discussing' things like the definitions of words with idiots while hijacking threads. Again, he wasn't asking about swapping in a V8, just tips on swapping in a different V6. But of course, we have the people here who for some reason think that no one has ever thought of swapping in a V8 so they post it. Come on. And yes, 10 n/a ls1s are a dime a dozen around here. So, no, I don't think throwing in a V8 that has been done over and over is creative. Hell, you can go by hundreds of books and find hundreds of website laying out the whole R&R procedure. That's not being creative. Hawgs, don't like my 15.4 on a slipping clutch, then you find me some literature on what I am doing wrong to tune it right and get into the 13s. Oh, wait a minute, there isn't any. I guess I will have to use my creativity to figure it out.
And just to set this straight now, I don't ever remember saying anything about V8s being 'not sweet'. That is not what this debate is about.
And Hawgs, which V8 are you going to throw in your car? You said that it was going to be a LS1 but then you also said it was going to be a big bore. I don't consider LS1s to be big bore V8s.

400+ CI LS1... not exactly a stock LS1. Who HONESTLY cares about being creative in going fast? Saying your trying to be creative is merely an excuse for settling with what you have.
Since 10 second LS1s are dime a dozen up there... find me 5 that live in IL and have posted numbers on them. LS1tech.com and LS2.com and LS1.com are good places to look. Please tell me.

Why am I going to waste more of my time doing your homework. You're the student. Maybe this never occured to you but not everyone with a modded LS1 goes online. I base my info on the cars that race at the local track. If you want numbers, maybe you should go out to a racetrack instead of racing from behind your keyboard.
And settling for what I have? I didn't know that 3rd gen Formulas came w/ a 3.4L in them. Wait a minute, that would mean that I went out and got one. I put a V6 in my car over a 350 TPI.
400+ ci LS1 still isn't big bore. I thought you would mean a 540, 502, or even a 454. Great so its not stock. What else is new? Give me a call if you ever get that going, I would like to see it.
And about being creative. I guess I just like to be original. I like to know how things work and what I can do make it run better. You, being the student, will just by a book and install a motor just like some other guy did and because of it, will never run faster than the original. But as long as you enjoy it.

I did not say big bore either... I said big cube. Do you know anything about LS1s? The largest CI LS1 based motor is a 455 that MTI built for their GTO. I do not want to do a BBC motor because I would like to compete in a few of the LS1TECH Racing Series races.
I really do not care about being orginal or being creative, I just care about finishing the 1/4 in as little time as I can... I dont care if I am not the first person to do it that fast or with that setup.
95Batmobile... I have thought about the 6.0 block, but I am also thinking about getting a 7.0L MTI 427... just have to get a tow rig/daily driver first. Unfortunatly I do have some time to decide.

coming from the 3rd gen world I don't know much about 4th gen habits... but isn't it cheaper to just get a fbody with a 3.8 already in it then do the swap in a 3.4? plus somebody said the 3.4 would create more torque.. is it true and why would it hurt ETs in 1/4 mile? I thought the more torque the better in that kind of racing...

I'm doing the 3.8L swap (96 3.8L into 95 car).
As far as I know I just need to put the engine in(has mounts, wiring harness and accessories), make the exhaust work with it(gonna totally redo it headers back), and I'm gonna rebuild my transmission(it needs it) cause it should bolt right up.
My only concern is the rear o2 sensors, but I think I will just sim them and not have a cat.2005 Ford Focus ZX3 SE D20 M5 - Modified ;) http://www.knightenmotorsports.com
[ U R L = h t t p : / / w w w . g e o c i t i e s . c o m / h e a r t l a n d _ h e a t _ v 6 ] Heartland Heat V6 [ / U R L ]

HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!! an actual answer to the origonal question
My 3.4--> 3800 swap is different than about 99% of everyone elses, being in a third gen & all, but yeah, pull everything you can from the donor vehicle that you can. The 95 3800 I have has a harness that is a mix of the 95 3.4 & 96+ 3800 harnesses. Track down a copy of a service manual, as it will have all the wiring schematics you'll need. The bastardification of Third & Fourth gen cars.
