A bigger cam with the stock TC might not work so good. I would say do the TC first.

I agree with pgriffith. The verdict is still out on the cams. Everybody has problems.

Untrue, Min installed a comp 206/212 per my recommendation and has nothing but complete success with it even running nitrous.

I was just think TC because the cam will loose more low end power and may have to be a little trickier to take off. IF its a mild cam I would say do the cam. But who wants mild. Most aggressive cams will require somewhat larger TC than stock.

What good is +5hp @ 5000RPM when you have to sacrifice the low end to get it?

I say go mild. I dont consider 206/212 mild either for our engines. Its a very good cam, a strong cam, and tends to make as much power as possible throughout the USEABLE powerband right up to 6000RPM. If you peak out at 7000RPM, what good is that?

how much power/quarter help did you all get out of the 206/212 (especially if uve got headers)? is that a comp cams regrind? what do you mean tricky to launch, i think with the new gears, that the TC can wait a month or two, plus im not takin it to the track yet, this would be a street thing for now....

If you get a bigger cam its gonna move the power curve up. If you get too big of a cam it will move it up too far and you will not be able to take off in a automatic. But if you had a higher stall TC then it wouldnt matter. IF you get a big cam you always loose some drivability just because it moves the power up.

ITs not a gregrind it is a new core.

Does MIN run the stock TC?

Okay, maybe everybody don't have problems. But, most of the 3.8's on this board with the more agressive cams do. Depends on what you want, I guess. I'm thinking dependibility.

Dude, let some more people do the cam thing before you do. I like them too, but sheesh. Gotta cross your fingers, and hope you don't throw a code. I'd do high ratio rockers before that. Go read some posts on cams. See what I mean.

Dominic did bring up a promising one though a couple of weeks ago. Here's the link.

It's the VS cam. I'm getting one as soon as his is installed. :D
