• Custom Long Tube headers are finished!!!

I got the car back today w/the long tubes, they look awesome!! I used a set of pacesetters and cut the collectors off then had them lengthened with custom 2.25" collectors built, the first 6-8" of the primaries are 1.5" then they step to 1.625" the rest of the way...these are definately unique, ive never seen a set of headers so small, im used to seeing race headers,(my dads primary tubes are 2.25")...as of now im running it w/the O2's unhooked because the extensions havent showed up yet but it definately has better throttle response and pulls decent up high, i think after the computer re-adjusts and the O2's are hooked up it should run a lot better...ill get some pics up after i get them coated, that might be about another 2-4 weeks, later

    OOPS, wrong forum!

i had a custom removable Y-pipe built so i can take it off at the track and run it open headers after the heads/cam setup is finished....there is no way in hell you could drive a car around open headered w/o gettin pulled over, its WAY WAY too loud!

Actually lol. I drove mine around for about 2 months with open headers =) If you barely keep ur foot on the gas it will quiet down (as much as possible atleast), did that everytime I saw a cop.

I did mine the illegal way for the track and just put a cutout before the cat, of course I still need to put the rest of the exhaust on lol.

Congrats on the long tubes! Screw pics I want a sound clip lol

no true duals, it is the headers Y'd into a TSP Rumbler....as for a sound clip its louder than sh1t and I dont think it deserves a clip, it doesnt sound nice, now after the heads/cam i might do it but for now im not...

BTW, i took the headers to be coated today and they should be done early next week, ill try to get pics

                ok, let's do some math....

1.5" out the heads for primaries. this equates out to 10.6" of area per inch of header length. then they step up to 1.625" the rest of the way. this equates out to 12.44" of area per inch of header length. then ur collectors are 2.25" in diameter. this equates out to 7.95" of area per inch.

My question is this, why step up the primary length if ur only gonna restrict flow later on? then let's say u put on a 3" cat and cat-back. that will equate out to 7.06" of area per inch of tubing. I have no idea how much ur motor flows out the exhaust ports a minute(cfm), so I dunno how this will affect ur powerband. I assume it'll give u mroe high-end power, but I still don't understand why u chose to step up the primary length before the secondaries.
