  • Camshafts for 60 degree engines interchangable?

I found a nice cam for GM 60 degree engines and it lists 2.8 and 3.1 motors but I know the 3.4 is the same damn thing. Will it work or not? :\

some of the 2.8 and 3.1 cams dont have a cam sensor trigger cast on them, that is the only difference.

The cam trigger and the cam position sensor send the signal to the computer to handle the ignition firing. Yes, it is a big deal.

I believe that Tiago has that cam but isn't using it. You will probably have to affix some kind of notch to it so the computer knows the ignition timing.

He told me earlier today that the SFI wont work, just hurts your Gas milage.

                  Don't 3.4's have a crank sensor?
I have herd that people run just the crank sensor.
I think it is a little button that sticks out, you will not be able to cut any thing in the cam.
Drill and tap a hole in the cam and stick a threded peace of steel or a round hex headed bolt in there and tack weld it on so it can't fall out.

Yea we have Crank sensors so the car can prob just go off that and be ok..

So the consensus is that it will work. I am at this problem right now. I have asked several people about this, and they all said it will run, just be a little rich, and kinda bad gas mileage. But it will run good, and strong. Thanks.

I don't have a pic, but it would be a bump between the first cam bearing journal and the first lobe
the 2030 should have it, as its for fuel injected motors
