i have to say i am dissapointed in u guys. This is a V6 site. Not a bash on the V6's. Yeah anyone can just go out and buy a v8 but everyone has a v8. Yeah its fun but there is no challenge in that. If u see a built v8 and a built v6, more people will probably be more impressed with the v6 because it is something that most people do see. U can go to any car show and see a Z28 or an SS. There is nothing special about taht. But a built V6. Now thats Special. Stick with the Supercharger man!

Speak for yourself..I think a V8 swap is impressive and a good conversation peice at any car show..People would be more impressed that you swapped motors, rather than adding a supercharger to a V6. I think what would be even more unique is having an LS1 in a 93-97 style camaro. I don't think I've seen ANY of those around here...or at any car show for that matter.
I'd say go for the LS1 swap

Not to make fun of V6's, but it takes a "built" one just to even come close to a BONE STOCK V8. V8s have much more potential, its just so much more worthwhile. Look at our 12 second V6s, its amazing what they have done and very impressive- but fact of the matter is they could be 11-10 second V8s.
It never really was my thing, I modded the L36 because its what I had to work with at the time, but now I have moved onto better things and it feels like I wasted a lot of time and money back then.
Well of course a v8 is giong to be faster then a V6. But do u think that the 10 second V8 is going to be street legel? Im not dissing V8's by now means. I just like the 6's. And with a few mods u can be right up there with the V8's.

I'm not bashing and if you feel i did it, i didnt mean to. i love my V6, and doing a rebuild right now, and i know this is v6 forum, i'm only responding to the question
" is it worth it to supercharge my v6 Instead of swapping it for an ls1?
m trying to factor in cost, hp+, maint. , durability.
Please commet and dont be byest"

With a Few Mods ????
i have a v6 and i love it too, but please what do you mean with a few mods. come on, it would take at least $7000 to hang with a stock V8. is not worth it. do the swap or get the V8.

yeah right, and then you woke up!
when i think of all the money i spent on my V6 i know think what a waste. i would have much rather modded a V8. and those that say say "i would rather see a modded V6" dont really know how it is. i know how it is cause i had a heavily modded V6 and now i have an 8, so i am not being biased, i am just telling the truth. i would rather see a heavily modded V8 than see a V6 with the same mods.
why? because i ahve been there.
6s.......under the hood or under the belt, they just dont cut it.
I just threw the SLP CAI and flowmaster 2.5 catback on mine and that's good enough for me. I got mine cause I wanted to get the last model year and they wanted 32g's for a WS6. Just my story. Later man.
Oh in answer to your question, if you had the funds and the time I would probably go with the V8 swap. Even an LT1 cause the block is iron and not aluminum like the LS1. The LT1 can handle a lot more mods.

ive been stuck with this same problem. i want everything right now!! then i realized, its a hellova lot better than my last car, and i do love it. when i bought my v6 it was the first car loan i had to take out and it was on a 5 year old car. pretty cheap payments. i'll keep spending a little here, a little there playing with it for fun and when its finally paid for ill park it in the garage and buy another 5 year old car, this time a T/A and then i can play with that one. never have a HUGE car debt, maybe i'll be a lot nicer to my kid (when and if) than my dad was to me and pass on the v6 when he came of age.... i always and still do wish my dad kept his firebird, the first car that HE bought out of school, a 1974 canary yellow firebird with a 350.

no bias here... both are legitimate and cool plans.
my plan is to super or turbo my v6 in a few years... while the ls1 is a beaut, everyone's got one. I want something more unique... i like being an underdog
so i vote for super/turbo option.
Good luck whichever way you go.

I see were you are coming from Nino but not EVERY mooded V6 is not gonna turn out like yours did. Personally i know your V6 was mooded but not modded right. There is a right way to mod ANY engine and then there is a wrong way. Yours just ended being the wrong way and it happens. Persnally i rather see a heavily modded 3800 than an modded LS1. I have been down the road were i thought i wanted a V8 and i had an V8 but then i turned around a got a V6 instead. Why: well it is different, i like the 3800 and think it is an awesome engine with so much UNTAPED potentail, and i grew up around the 3.8 most of my life. If i had the money my V6 can and would be in the 12s regardless if i did a V8 swap or not. After trading in my old 8 i dont miss it one bit.

I like being the underdog, but I can't see myself spending $4000+ dollars on a super/turbo charger neither. It's not how much you spend, it's how you spend it. I'll just stick with nitrous. A little over 2gs in the ride and beating V8s, old and new, stock and modified. ;)
i'd say supercharge the v6, b/c that takes ballz. n e one and their grandma could drop a v8 into our cars, but what would that make it? nothing more than an ss or z28. a supercharged v6 is unique, and something to b proud of.
