I say go for the supercharger. You see LS1's everywhere, but a supercharged V6 with 300 plus HP is pretty unique, and not at all slow.

BE A TRAITOR! JUST LIKE ME! GETTA IMPORT!
Any way, if you want boost go with the 6 if you want Power and dont care to impress people with your "badass v6" get a ls1 or hell spring for extra and swap in a Corvette ls6 and t56 and have 400hp to play with STOCK, YOU WILL HAVE TO REPLACE YOUR REAR END WITHIN A WEEK PERIOD!
Guy local here did this swap ( ls1 to ls6 and vette tranny ) Lets just say his rear looked really funny when the differential was partialy sticking out the cover.91 Eagle Talon Awd Turbo 5 speed FOR SALE 6000$
Looking for a Fiero GT
www.swdsm.net

If I went with any form of forced induction it would be a turbo, much easier on the engine than a blower. I can always turn the boost down to take it easy on the engine too (but would I really do that?) we're just comparing apples n oranges, a v8 will always be faster than a v6 with the same mods. on top of that a v8 has more mods available. Point being though, if u have a six, u still have a badass car, with a lot of power when stacked against other cars, and its still sweet to mod n drive. If u can put up with paying for a v8 engine swap, extra insurance, etc....do it! Agreed. A modified V6 is usually comparable to a stock V8, unless it is modified extremely, as a race rebuild, and a turbo charger pushing 20lbs of boost( ie. the intense turbo GTP 10.998 1/4 mile). Then it can compete with modified V8's, but not a V8 with the same modifications ( ie the Lingenfelter C5 twin turbo 9.59 1/4 mile).2000 Firebird. without counting the spray, how many 13 second V6s are out there now?
ok heavily modded 13 sec V6s line up and show yourselves!
now, all you heavily modded V6s that have had good runs but more bad issues, stand up and show yourselves.
i am not the only one who has had a bad experience with the 3800. there are more people in my group that people want to admit. where are all the greats now?
think about it guys. why am i the only one who sees this? where are all the power packers? where are all the heads/cam people? sure we have 1 person that throws in a cam and runs 13s - GREAT! 1 out of how many?
supercharge/turbo is awesome. that was my original plan. i then choose all motor. and yes i went down hill from there, but am i the only one? i dont think so. so think of what you want. do you want to go fast in an untamed car, or do you want to go fast in a reliable car? remember i too wanted to be original and fast, and now i am - with the swap!

6s.......under the hood or under the belt, they just dont cut it.

Honestly, who gives a **** if a V6 is fast. I think its actually kind of stupid to polish a turd that much. Look at the 12 second V6s. The cars are gutted to hell, hardly streetable, nowhere near stock, or eles they are running dual power adders like shirl. Then look at the 12 second V8s with just bolt ons, 100% streetable, full street trim.
And like Magnus always brings up, THE SOUND. I wouldn't give up that throaty growl only 8 cylinders can make for anything.
If your idea of a good time is to pour tons of money into a tiny engine, run lightly modded V8 times, and lose a lot of streetability, than thats your perogative. I hear all the ricers saying the exact same things. They are very impressed with what they do with thier 4 cylinders. As fas as I am concerned its the same thing here.
I've read posts from Pathogen and Stefan saying they were afraid to go full throttle or something would break. Having 300 at the wheels avaialable anytime without forced induction and a fear of grenading the engine going WOT is something I enjoy.
I guess I just don't have my heart in it though. I had the L36 because it is what I could afford. I got money, blew my V6, and jumped ship the instant I could. But hey, thats just me.
But think of it, stressing the engine craming air into it, or just sucking it in with no great stress? To me, the choice is obvious.

it's not the engine that isn't strong. the engine is damn strong. it can take a lot of abuse. bad tuning or setup is what can kill ANY engine.
like i said before sound is purely OPINION.
as shown by the grand prixs with correct tuning an L36 can get into the 11's on the stock bottom end. the engine has been winning awards for 10 years for it's strength and reliability.
try this in your ls1. i was going down the quarter and missed a shift. i went from 2nd to 1st at 5900rpms. fuel cut out but it's still mechanically over revved. my rear end hopped around, sparks flew, i ripped it out of gear and pretty much coasted the rest of the way. my engine was fine and i've put about 70K miles on it since then and it's been fine(and i still managed to run a blazing 26 second 1/4!). if you try it though i would suggest having some new pushrods ready. point is when stuff breaks it's usually not the engine's fault.
and you have 3 ways to get faster. lose weight or more power or both. losing weight can be cheap in the beginning.

Just an FYI SkAchilles, my 12.3 pass was done with stock heads/cam, 3.42 gear, full interior, bumper supports, etc. etc... extremely streetable.

exactly my point. use your brain a little in the beginning and you can have a reliable fast setup. this is true for any engine. the LS1 is just probably one of the best starting points out there now. doesn't mean everything else is crap. my next car will be ls1 powered but it's going to be in a C3 vette.i was swimming in the carribean. animals were hiding behind the rocks except for the little fish, but they told me the squid\'s trying to talk to me. oink, oink. where is my mind?
