You could probably gain a good bit of hp if you only had a belt running to the altenator.

This is my ultimate plan, basically you wouldn't be able to leave the alternator in its current position because the water pump would get in the way. What would work is if you moved the alternator down next to the crank, either where the power steering is or the ac is. You would have to come up with some sort of mount for it, and put it on a swing type mount so that you wouldn't need a tensioner. Nobody that I know of has done it, but if you can make it work, let us know. Once I get rid of my powersteering I'll be able to play around with this some more.

I am taking a machining calss rithe now i could probably make an adapter that could relocate the altenator baraket to the old ac braket or something.

With all the ac and powerstearing componets out, it would make the engine bay look alot cleaner. And it would be alot easier to work on.

I actually was contemplating doing that for the crank and waterpump.

I'm sure the engine bay will look alot cleaner and your arms are going to be twice as big trying to turn the wheel.

All My budies with Hondas, we always pull the power stearing off before an engine swap. The car handles alot beter when going fast but it is a b!$^h in a parking lot.

Now compare the size of your tires vs. the size of his tires. And trust me it'll be worse.

Go pull your drivebelt and go for a quick drive down teh street and back.(make sure car is dead cool, when you do this it will heat up fast)

Might be able to do a manual steering conversion like 12sec, but I think its a bit crazy for a daily driver.

i heard it will hurt the crank or something if your belt snaps?

will it just heat up really hot real quick or will your engine blow up?
my belt is about to snap

With no belt, the water pump will not be turning. This means there won't be any cool water to keep the engine from overheating. It will heat up pretty rapidly. Hopefully you'll shut it down by then.

A quick trip down the track or around the block won't hurt it, just keep an eye on the temp. ;)

Also note that the alternator won't be turning either, so you'll drain the battery in addition to melting your engine.

                              Change it ASAP...

you won't hurt the crank without it.

but you will overheat, since you are not pumping coolant through your motor(no waterpump since the belt isn't cranking it) YOu can probably drive the car from dead cool for about 1-2 minutes before it starts to get really hot. So keep that in mind.

Also you will be running the car off of the battery only, since the alternator isn't working as well.

I am just suggesting it so you can see how hard it is to drive with no Powersteering in an f-body.
