can 93-97 intake plenum be put on 98+ L36?

Reason I ask is because I have a 2002 L36 with electronic throttle and no IAC to drop into my Isuzu pickup I'm building up as an offroader. I'm using a custom DIY fuel injection and spark controller called Megasquirt (www.megasquirt.info), and it does not support electronic throttle, and also needs IAC. I bought a pre-98 cable throttle TB to bolt to it but found out the IAC valve on these motors is in the Intake plenum. I would like to get a junkyard intake manifold from a "bent-neck" pre 98 L36 to support the IAC circuit on my setup. Seems like a weird request but has anyone done this? Maybe there are other swappers like me that wanted to ditch the electro throttle and found themselves in this boat.

If anyone has interest in this swap I can start a thread of my progress.

99+ are the drive by wire. 95-98 are the cable driven. 93-95 are 3.4 and won't work on a 3.8. ;)

99+ TB will only bolt to 99+ intake manifold.

Converting a 99+ to 98- will require intake manifold, TB, throttle cables, wiring harness, and PCM. If you're going to bypass all the controls with a Megasquirt, you probably only need the intake manifold and TB.

Cool man, thanks for the clarification and help. All I really wanted to know is if the 95-98 upper intake plenum will bolt to my 2002 engine and with it's bent neck still clear my accessory dress. Looks like you answered that, cool. I already have a 97 TB and I could make it work by fabricating an adapter for the 2002 manifold but I would like to have an IAC port.

I have question on this as well. I cant remember correctly if the 99-2002 lower intake will bolt to a 98 plenum? If i remember right the lower intakes are the same and only the plenum changed. Can anyone verify this for me?

I have a 2002 motor going in my 98 camaro. But i sold the origional manifold. So it seems im in the same boat.

I ordered one for $40 should not be a big deal if it doesn't fit but I'll post here as to the differences.

Lower intake manifold is the same for all 3.8s.

The junkyard sent me a 97 lower IM when I asked for an upper IM, I got a chance to compare them. Matt is right they are exactly the same.
