yeah I just installed my headers a few weeks ago and have been sucking hot air for a while, but the question is will this give sufficient flow through the egr system to keep the SES light off?

Red, crap, I've had that dissconnected for years now

I was thinking of removing that cylindrical thing for more weight reduction and freeing up a cluttered engine bay :0

        Thanks for the info/ explanation

Just for clarification the 18K Ohm resistor I gave Red was to keep his 160 stat from throwing a code and killing the gauge

Im sure it does increase timing advance too though, but who really knows? I just don't like my coolant gauge dying

Something else you might like knowing is the EGR is there to reduce engine cyl temps, thereby reducing the tendancy to ping at idle or partial throttle on 87 octane. With 9.5:1 compression, the tendancy to ping goes up a lot if you remove the EGR. At WOT, the EGR shuts, so IMO it makes no sense to remove it.

i understand what your saying about cyl. temps and pinging, but imo i think that anyone wanting to do this mod would be running a higher octane, like myself... and i was unaware that the EGR shuts at WOT, thats interesting...

do you floor it at every light?....not being an a$$hole but a little more power with less throttle is nice

Im not sure if this would apply or not, im not clear what our electrical connector looks like (i am going ot look later to see.) but this could prove useful for those who want to !EGR

its an interesting idea, but our egr connector doesn't look like that, there are 5 wires comin out of it? so which ones need to be hooked up with the resistor? i think it can be done by trial and error, and an autotap is probably needed as well...

and has anyone else messed with their egr, i ordered the block off plate and plan on routing the egr tube to the airbox...

Our setup its definatly differnt than theirs, however you have to look at this factor.

Our connect is going to supply a ground, and a power wire, so you can elimnate two right off the top with a simple multi-meter. Just identify those two wires. Then their is probably another wire that goes over to the throttle body so that it knows when your not @ WOT, so you could posibly eliminate 1 more wire, leaving only two... its likely that those two wires would be the ones that would need the resistor...

does anyone have any dyno info on the egr delete? or track times to see if it helps at all? i dont think it would help because it would just make your engine temps higher? plus the egr only comes on when you are cruising? or at least thats the way that i understand it. thanks
