I've been toying with the idea of taking my spare L36 I had for the Maro and building it to L67 spec adding an M90 then dropping it into a fiero. How much time/money am I looking at?
How much fabrication would be required? I know it's not gonna be just a swap in, but if it involves too much fabrication, I'll probably pass and just build up a 350 and find a cheep 3rd gen to put it in.

Hasn't been done yet... I imagine there would be quite a few things involved that would require some attention. Motor mounts, accessory brackets, Clearance issues that would need attention as well. The Cadillac Northstar is a common mega-upgrade for those cars, you would probably have a similar time doing this swap. You could always keep the L36 for your current car and Buy a 3.4 to go in the Fiero, that would make it move.

Yea it has. Mccanda who used to post here alot, bought a fiero with plans on swapping in either an L36 or an L67. L67swap.com has a small list of parts needed, but its no where near the detail I'm looking for. The little research I have done already indicates it's pretty much a straight swap, the only thing is the rear motor mount needs some fabrication, which someone already makes, I have the name bookmarked at home.
The biggest issue is gonna be the PCM from what I understand.
BTW, I don't think the 3800 will fit in the engine bay of a Matrix, if it did, that would haul major *** I have the motor already, and it'd be easier to use it as a donor than to take a loss and sell it. I can pick up a fiero on ebay for $300-1000.

there are literaly 100's of people who have done this swap.. it is VERRRRRRRRY common on fieros.. please do a search on google.. there are lots of sites with good details on how to do it.. trust me.. i have been thinking about doing that setup for about 3 years now..
I have heard of the 3.4L swap being common, but this shouldn't be too big of an issue, esp. if you have the 5spd in the fiero..just get the auto stuff deleted when you get the computer tuned. If you already have the computer the engine will work right, it's just a matter of getting your gauges, etc to work, but I don't think that it is too hard.
