• Why won't LS1 Edit work on our cars?

Anyone know why?

Because it is designed to tune the PCMs of LS1 PCMs, not V6 ones. They are totally different besides the fact that they are both OBDII.

Ok, aside from the blatantly obvious. They are both OBDII, so what's the big difference? There has to be a way to hack it.

He just told you, that blatantly obvious fact is the answer there bud.

Any scanner will work on both a v6 and an ls1 -- they send out the same trouble codes (except for ones having to do w/ the 7th & 8th cyl. & supporting systems)

When you change values in a PCM, you are changing values in a big table -- or a database.

The L36 and LS1 are two completely different engines, with different tables, different values, and different tolerances.

I would bet a lot of the programming is moderately similar, but an editing program doesn't mess w/ the actual programming, it just messes w/ the variables the program uses.

assuming someone gave you ls1edit w/ out any error control (ie -- it would do its thing regardless of the type of engine), it would modify something. But you would probably blow your engine in the process...

They do send out the same trouble codes, but not all scanners are universal. Autotap and MAFT/MAFT+ are, as well as OBD II software, but the Scanmasters are not universal. They are engine specific. Just wanted to clarify that, but thanks for sticking up for me.

I wasn't trying to flame anyone here, so if I came off that way, sorry. If they can do it for LS-1's why can't someone hack it and make it work for us L36 guys? The coding has to be somewhat similar considering they use the same error codes and stuff. Can't someone just plug in the table for our car and edit it however one would see fit like SpeedPro works?

The almighty $$. There are more people that are willing to spend the $$ on the LS1, than those that are owners of the L36.
Kinda sucks, becouse there are those that are die hard fans of the 3800 Series II, and they are getting left out.

Im sure that there is a nerd out there that knows all about the code, and is going to get to it eventually....
Hopefully sooner than later that is.
