True, but that's pretty risky IMO. I would trust someone with experience in our engines over some guy who's been doing V8s for years but has never even seen a set of 3.4 heads. ;) </font>
there is a shop in Grandview, MO that speciallizes in 2.8L and 3.1L stuff and they said they would work over my heads for $500 and I could drop it off

right, you'd have to resleave it to get the bore big enugh, and thats spending alot of $$$ on a block that cost alot of $$$$

some gen 3 goodies a 260 cam and some headers.... thats the rebuild my 3.4 is gonna get
      </font>
let me know if ya need a hand....

once i buy a house and a daily driver i'll be runnin the same route you are lookin at (but my headers will probably have a hairdryer attached to them)

If you truely want the baddest v6 i would swap to the 3.8 simply because there are more parts. Do a 4.2 forged stroker from comeracing with a final cr of about 8.7:1, abbott heads and intake, custom turbo cam, get a custom turbo setup made, full roller vavletrain with some of the lightest components you can find, also dont forget an electric water pump so you can take you belt off at the track for even more power. Suspension and chasi mods shouldnt be looked over either. The 3.4 is great and all but there just isnt the parts available for it like there are for the 3.8.

If you do the 3.4L definitley look for forced induction. But like already said you will be looking into computer problems not much tuning availible, and I have seen it kill lots of people with 3.4L and 3.8Ls(before hpt and dhp)

As far as PCM tuning on the 3.4, I think I've heard of a few people trying to use the mega squirt system. I hear it can be adapted to run a lot of funtions.

What all are you including in your rebuild?

that is the question he is asking us to answer. He wants to know the best way to build up a 3.4. IMO it will be too much of a pain since you will have to do a lot of pioneering. The 3.8 is a much better platform.

I wouldn't say pioneering, the 60* V6 has been around too long not to have mods for it. I think it is feasible to try, and there is a big window for success.

yes it has been around for a while but there are still a lot of things missing for it like programming that imo make the 3.8 a better choice to build up.

Programming is about the only limit to the 3.4L V6. It is a HUGE limit, but everything else is out there to add to the 3.4L V6. Want to go really extreme and not worry about programming, convert it to a carbed setup using the Edelbrock manifold and throw a 600 cfm Holley carb on top. From there, you are set with whatever setup you choose.

                        pioneering HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

ok, time to reach into the bag of tricks...

                        http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...arts/215-1.jpg

                        ^looks like a 1100 HP 60* V6 to me... anyone know of any 1100 HP 3.8's?

"Here's one out of left field - a Ryan Falconer built V6 Chev with RFRE ported 18 degree alum heads, billet crank, Carillo rods, JE pistons, inconel & titanium valves, cast alum sump with integral mains, billet front drive plate and mounts, roller camshaft, Cosworth Engineering slimline oil and water pump, twin Garrett turbos, Kinsler intake, Motec M8 management system with expanded dataloging capability, exhaust, dry sump tank, spare turbo, etc.

This motor cost Opel $40,000 to buy from Ryan Falconer Racing Engines. They sold this unused short block for $25,000. Ryan then fitted his modified 18 degree heads complete with his own stainless rocker arms, Kinsler injection manifold and Motec M8 computer. First time on the dyno with the smaller exhaust housings, the motor made 893hp and 639lb/ft. The larger exhaust housings allow this motor to make around the 1100hp mark on alcohol.

Summit Motorsports in Brisbane, Australia paid RFRE $25K for the basic motor, then spent a further $30,000- on extras. The turbos are worth $3,300 each, and there's an unused spare included. The Cosworth pump cost $9,000!!!! The exhaust system was $5,500-, then the Motec, dry sump tank, a couple of thousand dollars for all the braided hose and fittings, then the (not inconsiderable) labour charge for Ryan's services.....

This was fitted into a racecar for ONE DAY in the States to verify the working order of the motor after the dyno runs, and to gain some dataloging in "real world" conditions. All of this datalogging is available for any interested parties. The motor was then shipped to Australia and fitted into a racecar. After overpowering the chassis and generally being frowned upon for lifting the stakes too high, the style of engine was "actively discouraged" from competing in any further series and has sat in the corner of a race shop under covers since.

The motor is offered for a total price of $30,000 which includes all the spares. Unless you want to blow the Run and Gun guys out of the water, I wouldn't expect this motor is destined for a Cobra I imagine some of you guys would also dabble in some dedicated roadrace cars, and this might just be the ticket to the winners circle!"

And you could also modify the car to put two engines in it, but it would be a pain in the ***.

One front mount, one rear mount. That is what I want to do.
