• limit of the stock valvetrain...

so how hard out can you rev it?

Also whats the max some of you 5-speed guys are revving?

I upped the rev limiter on my car last night.

Raised the spark limiter from 5975 to 6050
Raised fuel limiter from 6000 to 6100.

Oddly enough my clutch was doing pretty well last night, and dead hooking on powershifts, can't tell if its because I had to baby my car before or if my car was just hauling ***... but each shift felt much more powerful.

looks like I shifted ~6000, and it reved up to 6150 between shifts.

Anyone know when I should expect valve float?

also as for the 5-speed issure I have heard in the past about people not being able to get into gear because the synchros wouldn't work right being revved out that high? Just wondering if anyone else has heard this.

twice I was locked out of 3rd(never happens) I know its a problem with ls1s... maybe when I get the new master and do the drill mod it will fix it.

Zach used to take his way past stock limiter (at least 6500) with a cam in it too.

I run my car at 6500 Rev limiter. Shifts around 6300 or so...tach lag. but i am on upgraded springs, lifters, and pushrods. Cammed..

probably going to keep full weight not sure about what I am going ot do with gears. But have plans to upgrade them, thats the main reason why I bought hptuners so I can recalibrate for gears.

not sure if I am going to take it to 6500, on stock stuff... If I had upgraded springs maybe...

feels fine where I have it now power wise, but I was playing with cutout closed, and clutch slips so hard to say how it feels. either way I love how 1st gear is now, alwasy felt like it cut out too soon at stock limiter.

                  I'll play with it more

Yes he was, but not stock cam (meaning it would be harder on the valvetrain than a stock cam) so I would say 6500 would be safe.

Usually when you upgrade your cam you upgrade your valvetrain though. 6500 might be close, I'm thinking you would get valve float but that's just me.

hmm... maybe I will up it...

but then again I have to see if reving it that high is even worth it or if I am completely out of the powerband.

i think you may get out of your powerband.. i remember my stock dyno sheet started fallin way off around 5800 or so, not a huge drop, but enough to probably not take it any higher

                              5800 sounds about right...
