• How much to install cam?

I've been thinking about getting a cam installed and it uses everything else that is already stock. I want to know what you think the price is and how long it will take for this to be installed by a professional.

    At least 500-700.

You've got more work to do before a cam, though.

it's a GT cam I for got the site for it but it'll put me up to 220rwhp with stock springs and everything else. right now rear wheel horse power on my car I think is around 170 or 180 so I'll get a nice lil power gain.

You need at least high flow cat, headers, torque converter, LSD, gears (if you've got 3.08 now).

Also, if you want to use a power adder in the future (like your site says) then you don't want the GT cam.

Yes, you can run stock springs and other valvetrain, but it's much safer to upgrade those as well.

The cam is not going to put you at 220rwhp. That is with a lot of supporting mods which you don't have that he pointed out to you. Do those first, then do a cam swap.

^^yeah man...otherwise i woulda got a cam a long time ago and i run nitrous lol ...its like the powerdyne...they said you CAN get 100rwhp...but thats almost impossible with the basic 6psi kit without a crap load of supporting mods..i spent all my dough on nitrous...so the powerdyne didnt give me much at all...so i got rid of it and stayed with nitrous...i would DEFINITELY do gears (LSD) and a cat first...would be cheaper and you'd probably get more of a gain...IMO

Why would you need a torque converter?

I dont recommend running stock valvetrain either...the pushrods are made out of thin POS metal that bends really easy and the springs are just pathetic at around 40-50psi on the seat compared to the cheap Comps that are 105psi on the seat. I think you would either bend some pushrods or have some serious valve float issues. Just do it right the first time and buy all the good stuff.

Yeah, you are probably putting down somewhere in the mid 170s right now, but there is now way that when you are putting down 170 and still have the stock cat and headers that you are going to be able to get 220 whp out of that thing, on that cam.
