for the swap your gunna need tranny, converter, engine cradle, wiring, computer, gauge cluster, possible a driveshaft depending on what you have.

Its well worth it for the swap though, just go with a good ls1 and mod it before you drop her in.... would be a much better spending of your money.

i understand where your coming from. you ahve to replace the rearend, so why not get an indestructable one. and if your gonna bother doing that, why not get an engine that will take advantage of that rearend.

Also the swaps are easy, i had my v8 and v6 swapped in about 2 days both out and both back in.

all I know, for my car I want to end up with 500-600rwhp and I want it street legal. I don't want it too loud because I want to be able to enjoy my system with it hahaha. I know that just because you have 500hp it shouldn't drown everything around you out either. Nonetheless it should still sound good.

There is some mis-info given here .First of all lets clarify things:a 2002+ LS1 has the same block( heard some late series 2001 do too) as an LS6,also from 2001 LS1s had the LS6 intake manifold.I have an '03 C5 & this info has been verified by several sources. The biggest differences in 2002+ LS6s & LS1s are the heads & cam.The LS6s have:Sodium filled exhaust valves, different heads, push rods, camming. Then ,of course they are 10.5 to 1 compression, LS1 = 10.1.You can get to 10.5 cmp. in an LS1 by getting a TPIS special head gasket.Oh yes another similarity in 02+ engines ,they both have the ZO6 style exhaust manifolds.
In other terms ,make sure you get a 2002+ LS1 or 2001+ LS6 & either way it would be an excellant swap!If you go used Check #'s & make sure the block has a dull ,not shiny, appereance & you can be sure you have an 02+ engine.Go to www.gmpartsdirect,you can get new prices of several LS series engines ,including the new LS2s.From there you can price LS6 heads cams & the like ,their prices are pretty good. Also www.SDPC2000.com, has the complete engine prices your looking for also, including a complete LS6 for less than $5300.They also have all types of go goodies for the engine series.

shoot, if you had $5k g's +++ then why would you want an LSx/ls1/ls2/ls6/ls7 engine?
there ARE other engines out there
in JEG's it says that the LS1 is a daily driver engine. Only 325hp at crank, there are engines that deliver more at a smaller size.

i would rather listen to my SBC v8 than my stereo anyday
          lol

Maybe he wants something that can be a DD & still be a good perf. upgrade. Besides the LS series engines are very adaptable to all F-bodies & there are gobs of go parts to kick 'em up as high in HP as your little heart desires. They are state of the art engines & drivable, & a perfect choice for replacement in our F-Bods!They fit wiyhout a tremendous amount of modifications ,why or what other engine would you want ,they fit like a glove.

Why not just start with an LS2?

LS2's have LS6 heads, more cubic inches, just not as hot of a cam and they are cheaper.

why don't you just put in some junk yard rear end so it can drive then sell it and just buy an LS1 car, whole lot easier and prolly cheaper
