I still dont understand why you guys spend all this money on high ratio rockers. Rockers cost the same if not more then a good compcam or other performance cam. The install of a cam on these engines is not too bad. If you can do it yourself i would suggest to all of you to not do rockers and just get a cam. you will get alot more power from a cam vs. rockers and for the same price.

You will get more performance out of a cam, but the install and the list of items to buy are alot more expensive than rockers. With the cam, you need to buy, valvesprings, retainers, timing chain, pushrods, and a few other misc items. Granted, some of the items arent NEEDED, but are RECOMENDED since you basically are going to be tearing into the motor anyway.
I STRONGLY recomend valve springs. I didnt change them with my rockers, and I had valve float. So now I have to take the rockers back off to get to the springs now. Real waste of time IMO.
Alot of GPers use LS6 springs with rockers with no problem. Thats what I went with as well, and they are pretty cheap.
Im glad now I didnt do a cam, since ZZP is now making a M90 kit for the L36 GP. If I went the cam route, I would have to go back in and take the L36 cam out and replace it with the L67 cam to see the full potential. Usually cam installs are about 400-600 depending on where you go and who does it for you. Thats alot of money for some.1999 Grand Prix GT

www.fishsgt.com

Best ET: 14.94@91.25MPH with a 2.2 60\"

ouch, starting to regret not getting springs. thanks for the input GPfish. what rpm were you getting float at? (me too... looking to add blower in the future...planning on stock cam for that.)
Emissions can be a hassle with a cam, gas mileage can drop considerably. Overall stress on all valvetrain components is increased as well. There are a lot of related costs with comprehensive cam/valvetrain upgrade. oh, don't get me wrong, a camed out ride is a special thing indeed...just check out my 70 GMC. But, it looks like I will indeed have some more related costs with the rocker swap if I end up going with the 1s6 springs, retainers and a compressor kit. (good thing I have an air compressor allready. phew...) I will get pushrods at the same time. thats what paychecks are for.

I get my valve float around 5900 RPMs on my 84K miles old stock springs.
I also run ER rockers from INTENSE. IIRC they are 1.8 intake and 1.85 exhaust. Or its the other way around. I dont remember. ZZP did the tests and found the ER was the best ratio for the L36.1999 Grand Prix GT

www.fishsgt.com

Best ET: 14.94@91.25MPH with a 2.2 60\"

I don't want to do a cam due to gas, emissions, moving the power band, and the emense install costs!2002 M5 camaro- VTR CAI, custom cat-back exhaust, battery compacitor, pullie, lowering springs, 32mm sway bar, cross-drilled slotted rotars. 1-10\" L7 in cubby.
