  • cam and rockers a bad idea???

i already have the comp 210 220 512 512 115lsa cam installed. would it be a bad idea to install 1.8 ratio rocker arms to push my lift to .563??

I may be doing my math wrong, but I'm getting .576 Lift?

    .512/1.6=.32
    .32*1.8=.576

.576 is pushing it, If you have comp 130# springs and titanium retainers you may be able to get away with it, but I'd replace the pushrods, throw in some comp valve locks and viton premium valve stem seals for assurance, while your in there may as well do lifters ;)

i do have 130# springs and titanium retainers. and the kit from SLP has the pushrods. i do want to get new lifters, and the seals and locks are pretty much a must I thought. with my intakes and heads port matched and polished to handle the lift, you think it'll be alright? you are right with the lift, i was estimating.

.576 is definitely possible with a top end like you have planned.

On the 130# springs and built top end I think Intense claims its good for well over .6 lift at stock retainer height!

well, i guess that settles it. it will be done. if 1.6-1.8 gave a stock cam 10hp, do you have a guestimation on how much it will give my aftermarket cam? basically, anything above a 10hp gain is awesome with me.

The ports on your heads are matched for airflow.
What is important is that you Valve guides must be milled down, or the retainer will hit the seals.

If you're talking about having 0.576 lift on stock heads, you'd better stop dead in your tracks. Our heads stop flowing efficiently over 0.500 lift pretty much when stock from what i've read around so i would def not go anywhere near .576, those rockers are meant to increase lift for people who dont have cams. If you want to shell out that kind of money, Intense has a really nice set of harland sharp 1.6 roller rockers for $400 plus another $100 for their lightweight pushrods or get the comp hi-tech pushrods for $100 and you'd have better rockers and no lift complications.

what would be stock about my heads? i'll have them ported and polished for the lift, new springs, retainers, locks, seals, pushrods and lifters. what else would i have to do make this a safe mod??

You have them ported and polished for the lift... That is very vague. If they were ported, they will FLOW fine with the high lift, but the VALVE GUIDES stick up to high, you have to specifically tell the machine ship to MILL THE VALVE GUIDES down to accept any more lift.
There is a HUGE difference between "ported and polished for the lift" and "valve guides milled so there isn't a valvetrain collision"
                  Check into it.

I would get the compcam magnum rockers from ZZP, there 1.7 ratio so your lift wouldnt be as high but still higher then what you have. And they look really cool too.

how much milling has to be done for the 1.8's to work? will that effect the lift at all?

how much of a problem would it be to do the 1.7's and i do know what you are talking about AZ. i just had to look at it to see it if you know what i mean.

i just talked to zoomer at zzp and he said that i can do the 1.7s with zero problems. no milling of the valve guides. so, i guess im going to do that then. thanks for helping me figure this stuff out guys.
