• fast bolt on 3.4?

hey guys,
i was wondering what bolt ons, free mods, adn simple tricks are out there to help out a stock 95 3.4. a buddy of mine just picked one up and he needs to beat a jerk with a 3.8.
so let me know what you run and what mods you have.
the car is a 95, auto, hard top, no power options.

NOS 5175
MSD DIS4
SLP 3" exhaust
Magnaflow cat
SLP cai
tb coolant bypass
LT1 driveshaft (good mod)
Those got me the most power. There are a few other little things like wires, stat, etc. Headers, cams, and others are available. Tiago has a very nice setup as well.

here is what is being planned for he car. please let me know if this is all headed in the right direction.
1. home made CAI with a big coen filter and 3inch tubing
2. posi and 3.73 or 4.10 gears(please let me knwo which will be better)
3. pacesetter headers and y-pipe, 3inch cat, 3inch cat back
4. trans go shift kit
5. a mild torque convertor, something aroudn 3000(maybe 3600 if it is decided to go all out)
6. 180 t-stat
7. aluminum drive shaft from V8 car
8.boxed stock rear control arms adn spohn relocator brackets
9. lowerign springs(what kinds are good, wanna lower it 2-2.5 inches if possible) adn good shocks(prolly bilsteins)
10. bigger TB( will the 65mm tb from a 3.8 fit in place of the stock 50mm tb?)
11. adjustable fuel pressure regulator
12. poly engine, trans, and torque arm bushings

the car will also be put on a small diet to help get weight out, just simple stuff though, prolly 50-75 lbs.
does this soudn like a formula that can run low 15's or high 14's? if not, what woudl it run?

thanks
tim

Id stick with a 3000 or so stall, don't get lowering springs if you are in it just for the 1/4 mile times, 3.73s and 4.10s are way too much IMO for a stock 3.4, it runs out of breath too quick up top.

Throttle body, no the other wont fit, you can port the stock one though.

BTW unless you went on a very SERIOUS diet, I odn't think it would run better then 15.8 or so.

really? how much do these cars weigh? a standard Z28 weighs 3400-3450 with driver usually, i thought a V6 woudl be well below that?

thanks

Why is that?

My car ran a 15.8 with just intake and exhaust!

Tiago, what else did you have on before you went with the gold rockers? what type of performance gain did you get? I know you had knocking and doubled up on gaskets. What would you say where the biggest improvements you have made?

I've noticed quite a bit of difference with the Gold Race rockers. Mainly on pick lately but I have better top end as well since I did the Crane CAM (2030) at the same time. I think I'll see a bit more out of the combo with the headers installed, ported manifold and intake plenum will add to it as well. Rockers alone will not gain you that much.

Knocking - > just turn the stereo up louder :)

It's not as agressive as I would have liked but it's better than what I had. Post or let me know what you get ground. I'd be very interested to hear.

u are one of 3 people that Ive ever heard of running that fast with so little mods. Im not sure what to think of it, but most 3.4 cars DON'T run that fast even with more mods. he may run faster, and he may not.

Jsut out of curiosity, di all your guys's intake manifolds. line up with your cylinder heads perfectly? cuz mine do not, maybe my compression is boosted a little.

for the record, I ran a 15.913, before I got the rearend, and driveshaft.
