Few questions about pistons...
Is replacing them a worthwhile investment, and any noticeable gains with doing that.
For those of you who have done it, how difficult was it?
Also, whats the deal with forged pistons? How much better are they?
Thanks for the help!

Replacing your pistons is probably not a good idea unless your engine is making very large amounts of power. The purpost of upgraded pistons is to hold up to power the engine produces, not necessarily to produce more.

Ah I see, I was under the impresion you could get lighter pistons which would make the stroke complete easier and quicker, in turn creating more power.
Is this wrong or just not worth it, unless like you said the engine had enough power to necessitate it.

That actually is correct, but you hit on it when you mentioned it's not really worth it. A good set of pistons could run you $600 or so, and then you either have to tear the engine down and install them yourself (lots of time) or pay more for a shop to do it. If you're stock, there are a lot of easier, cheaper mods that will give you better gains.

Yeah, I have all the easy, cheap, beginning mods. Thats why I'm looking into more in depth stuff while keeping it N/A.
Anyway, thanks for the info!

going na there is not much power in it. I use to think going na was the best rought. attending the drag races hardly anybody is going na. most people have turbo, superchargers, or nitrous. thats the only way to get some big balls. Currently i am running nitrous but i also purchase port and polish and some gear ratio 3.73.i want forged pistons to run a larger shot of nitrous.

You might want to look into a cam/heads build on your motor if you're staying NA. Or, for that matter, even if you're not...

I dont know much about the 3.8 parts, but it would probably make sense to get some higher compression pistons... or shave the head... whatever it takes to get you from 9? 9.5? to 10-11... you'd probably gain some decent power.

the 3.8 heads are already almost zero decked, so you can't do much in the way of shaving them to get more compression.

Does anybody know a site that sells Ross pistons for the L36 engine? I had one but I lost it.
