Does a 94 3.4L pcm need flashed? I am buying a new computer for my maro from autozone. @ first they said they ordered it and it would be here by the 11th. When it did not get here by then they said there was a problem and that they had to reorder it. They wanted my VIN numbers and said that it would have to be flashed. The guy I ordered it from in the first place said it would not have to be.
i would think it has to be...i believe every PCM has to have the VIN flashed into it...so if you're ordering a whole new one...they need your VIN [img]smile.gif[/img]
An ECM, even a remanufactured one, is usually flashed from the manufacturer/remanufacturer because it is hot tested before it leaves the factory. Of course it would not have your VIN in it, but I'm surprised Autozone would require this in order to sell you a computer.
You should check my ECM compatibility thread. There's quite a few different models that computers will work in our cars. Not sure how much Autozone charges, but I got my spare for $20.
