  • Stroker Crank

i have a friend whos friend owns a CNC place and he can make me a crank for cost of material and shipping.

whatis the biggest stroke our engine can accomidate?

and what size would the rods have to be?

As far as I've heard, there is zero room in the 3.8 for a stroker crank, and quite little in terms of boring out. I'd look for a custom cam first.

find out the specs on the block first, then the piston height, and then the rod length. see if you can play w/ piston compression height and get a few tenths of an inch extra stroke. it won't be much, but if you really wanna do it, i think it is possible.

A cheaper way would be to have the crank "offset ground" where you use the biggest set of oversize rod bearings you can find (or have them custom made) and instead of grinding the rod journals down to spec on the centerline of the journal, it is offset to the high (outer) side of the crank, netting you a few tenths of an inch extra stroke, like someone mentioned. You can do this to add a few cubes to the motor and not worry about custom rods or pistons. It's not like stroking a 350 to a 400 but it every little bit helps.
