• some cam questions

hey guys as to the fact that this question is unique i think asking rather than searching through 200 posts would be better.
i plan on doing a powerdyne supercharger setup.
what cam would you suggest?(p.d. first cam down the road)

should i do heads with this cam? or have mine ported with intake?

will this cam make my car lopey at idle?(dont want that)

about what gas mileage to people with cam/heads get? i know that its going to drop pretty well but im willing to drop it to a certain amount to reach my goal of 13's. :(

how much money is this going to cost me to install myself? i feel i can do the work over time but i need to know how much. ive heard 1000 installed. and ive heard 1000 self-installed. anyone know from experience?

would you guys suggest going head/cam over the powerdyne? i know that for the money the p.d. is teh win right?

any other suggestions welcome. thanks guys

How is this a unique question? It's just like all the others. ;)

There's a few good cams out there for blowers, but which one depends on exactly what you want out of it.

My opinion: if you have to ask which cam to get, it's over your head and you shouldn't be doing it.

If you don't want a lope, why bother getting a cam at all? That's just one of the side effects, and there are others.

Cam alone will cost you $1000 if you install it yourself. Add another $1000 if you do heads. If you have to have someone else install it, add at least another $1000 on top of that.

Just do the blower.

Most likely the blower would give you more power. I'm not really up to speed on the FI stuff, but I don't think +100 RWHP is out of the question with FI.

13s should be easily within reach of a heads/cam NA motor. With a good density altitude and 60', I'm looking at 13s now with stock suspension and 3.23s.

The blower, though, could get you to low 13s, maybe even high 12s if everything's done right.

If your goal is simply 13s (wow, a few years ago 14.99 was huge) the heads/cam should do it, and you'll have a badass sounding car. If you do go this route, though, you're gonna get some lope. Mine shakes pretty good at idle.

Nitrous kit $350 used. 13s easily. Cheap.

no i dont want nitrous. i want all the time power.

so 98 camaro 3.8 would you recommend the head/cam over this blower? i would only be running 6psi on the blower so low 13's is really there? if thats true then i will hella save for that. but i am also interested in head/cam.

thanks
