Is there any other kits besides the zzperformance stroker? if so how do they hold up and perform?

  • #2
there was a custom 'new grind' stroker crank coming out of australia. i have not kept up with it. if you search this furom a ways back you will find it, though.

That kit was made by come racing. I emailed them about it and these are the responses i got.

John we will be distributing the 3.8 Buick crank kit though a dealer in
California. This will save freight cost.

We figure a complete kit (crank, rods, cast 9.7:1 pistons, rings and
bearings all fully balanced) to be about $2000.00 for normally
      aspirated
      applications.

We are not making a forged crank at this time. Our crank is a nodular
cast iron version. We will be making billet 4340 versions later this
year with "H" beam rods for the forced induction applications.

      Sam

Our crank is a brand new nodular iron piece cast from similar material
to the 400ci Chev Small Block or Ford 351 Cleveland 4MAB V8 cranks.

Our crank will be 100% fine with Turbocharging even up to reasonable
      boost levels (10-15lbs.)

I would not use a cast crank for Blowers with boost much over 10lbs. I
really don't know how much boost (blown) our crank will be able to
handle but from past experience with our other V8 cranks I think is is
not wise to overdo it with the torsional twist on the crank nose
      applied
by a Supercharger. Turbos don't have this problem at all.

If you look carefully at our crank you will see the design of
counterweights is much stronger than the OEM piece. The crank is
      beefier
everywhere it counts but a casting has its limits.

      Sam

So imo this would be the best option so far, i havent heared much lately about the kit so if you want i think you should email them. The website is www.comeracing.com . the hp and torque increases can be seen here http://www.comeracing.com/products/r...6_sheet_lg.gif

you kidding me? What were you expecting? A gain of 90hp and torque is a lot. NA hp is much harder to attain than FI or nitrous. Plus if you add some juice with this kit you will be in a whole nother league. I can only think of one guy with that much NA power on a 3.8. This is nothing to scoff at.

Is that on stock heads and cam? Is not its more like 40hp, which is still a huge *** difference... I've been wanting to stroke my car. I'm just leery about it because I havent seen to many people doing it.

                              $$$$$$$ </font>[/QUOTE]Thats nice....

I have talked to Scott about the crank, it will be a stroker that will handle an "unlimited" amount of abuse. I would spend that kind of money for the gains. But if I had to ball park it, I am guessing they will sell it for possibly $2500-$3000 range, that will include the crank, piston assemblies, and I believe all bearings.
