Never said it took alot. The mechanical pump doesn't take much energy either. The point is that it won't actually free up any power. Takes the same amount of energy to turn the pump, regardless if it's mechanical or electrical.

The only reason i would buy an electric pump would be to pull my belt at the track and be able to still have a water pump. Not having near the risk of overheating.

wow... depressing, but that makes ALOT of sense. i never even thought about that. thanks ALOT for the info. I'd be a really cool thing to have, but since im not on the strip too much it'd be pointless. huh... that explains y RPM's dip when i hit the defroster grid.

I've had my electric wp on for over a year now. it provides more of a hp gain as rpm's go up. This may sound strange, but here's why. as the rpm's go up on a stock wp, it takes more hp to turn it faster, causing more of a loss at higher rpm's than at lower rpm's. when you switch to an electric one, you gain very little low end, but you do gain more as rpm increases. at 6000 rpm, I could see gaining 10 rwhp on a moderately modified car. If you increased the rpm limiter even more, you'd see even more of a gain over a stock wp. I did this in conjunction with a 160* thermo and a coolant flush, so it kinda made sense to do it all at once.

                Kal-el....

I'll answer that question as if u asked me..

Mine doesnt slip. But i do have abrand new Tensioner pully.

if u'r pully has any wobbble in it, it will throw it off.

also what belt are you using?

mine is part number GB6-985 i think. its a gatorback

I routed it the same way as it used to run, except without the wp pulley. it never slipped off. I run a belt about 5 inches shorter than stock.
