  • Head bolts vs studs - install ease?

Will going to head studs make a heads/cam swap easier than using bolts?

I'm not worried about reusability, and while I can afford the extra price of the studs, I'd rather save the money unless it makes things that much easier. Motor will stay in car durng the swap.

studs ar epreferred when dissassembly is done often. If you're jsut doing an operation once, save the money.

studs will have a more even torque because you dont have as much friction as a bolt and also they will prolong the life of the threads in the block because you're not straining them as much as when you tighten a bolt.

But nobody has had a problem with head bolts, let alone with just being NA.

You might want them if you were turbo'd

They are highly recommended for people for forced induction because of the higher clamping force. Also, as mentioned above, they will save you money in the long run if you plan on pulling the heads from time to time. There really is no difference in ease of installation though from studs or bolts.

Working on the car, it was a bit harder to use the studs instead of bolts. I was most of the way through the studs when I realized the pack I ordered was incomplete.
