  • Indexing Plugs

Hey, I did a search, but feel free to move me out.

Anyone here index their plugs? Since I'm doing a change anyway, I thought I might give it a shot. I understand the concept, but I have no idea how to use the little hex index widgets. And even though I've done changes, I don't remember if our plugs are 14mm or something different. Top all of that off, I wouldn't know where to begin placing the ground-side -- does anyone know the combustion chamber layout and where to properly index the plugs?

Edit: Ooh, I just read about side-gapping. heheh.

Thought I might give this one a shot, and thanks.

Well, since It's late and I'm reading junk, as far as I can understand we have:

    14mm plugs
    with a 0.708" projection.
    Taper seat
    Takes a 5/8 Plug Socket

For me (no, not necessarily for you), I'm going with NGK TR6 4177. For my shorty needs, I'll use Accel P524S. Both at .035.

For those without power adders, you might prefer the Accel P526S shortie, and an unknown TR55.

Got a package of NGK 4177's and Accel P524S's in the mail today. Lemme just tell you about the difference between an NGK 4177 (TR6) and a Bosch Platinum ... EVERYTHING. Pardon my terminology, ... The Bosch electrode tip was the size of a needle / pin inside a cone-shaped porcelin insulator. The size of the 4177's electrode tip is about the size of this o. Similar, though not totally with the P524S (And did I mention that the Accel shorties cost $11 each?). Anyway, just thought I'd mention this.
