  • 10 degrees of knock!!!!

    i hooked up an a-tap to my car today. a/f was about 14.7 and knock in first gear was 8-9 degrees!!! and in second and third it was AT THE MOST 2 degrees, but usually none at all. wtf? how can i fix this, can i fix this? i bought some octane booster and will start putting 91 octane in there on the next tank. any other suggestions?

    I noticed you are HEARING knock from the passanger side of the car.. that is most likely the cause of your knock retard.. find that noise, quiet it and re scan.

      that could be a big reason your car wont run like it should! can you hook the MAFT up to a 97? my best friend just bought a MAFT for his 99 Formula and after he tuned it it made a HUGE difference in his performance, he was getting like 4* of knock and 02's were at .85 or so...

        how do i quieten it? i should get maft+ and a-tap and a laptop, but that's easily a $1000 investment =\

          it sounds like knock, but there is no knock reading at idle, only at WOT under heavy load (end of first gear)

            the noise i'm referring to may be to metal pieces rubbing or hitting eachother.. not detonation.. like exhaust vs frame, motor mount, etc. etc.
