  • sabre pcm in a firebird

i order a ecm from a junk yard and it got here today but it was out of a 99 buick la sabre and when i put it in the engine want even turn over anymore so i put the old ecm back in and it turned over so is the ecm not compatiable. They asked for the numbers on the front of your ecm and i gave them the # and the # match up on mine and the sabres so are they compatable or not

it would most likely need a reflash, the hardware might be compatible, but the strategy/OS might be different.

Sorry, dude, that is very hard to read. FWD ecms are not compatible with RWD cars.

The lesabre is a front wheel drive car. It has the 3800 engine though. Its funny this came up now. Just a few mins ago I was thinking of trying to read the codes in my uncles 99 lesabre with my hp tuners. Good luck with getting you money back though.

you should be able to read almost any GM OBD2 car/trunk with HP tunners scan tool, you just can't edit anything

It is the same part number... But it has a different program stored in it. You have to get it reflashed with the correct program for your car. By a dealer or by a tuning package that can load the correct year/model program into your pcm.

My information on the 99 3.8 Fbody lists the Service number as 9374997 which does not match any other GM car for that year.

                  http://www.camarov6.com/ubb/ultimate...;f=16;t=002787

Some of the FWD 3.8 ECM's have the same service number as the Fbody, but not every year.

Even if the service number matches, for everything to work correctly you may also need to have the ECM reflashed by a dealer. Alternately, send it to Texas Speed or another shop that offers tuning and have it performance flashed.

Try calling a couple dealers and ask?

I'm still confused how your PCM could have the same service # as a Sabre's.
