tom told me it would cost 20.00 a valve for oversized valves. my question is what will i benefit from this and about how many hrsp gain is it? is it worth spending the 240.00? sorry dont know if this belongs here, each time i post anything about motor in gen tech it gets moved here so here goes would bigger exhaust valves give me any hrsp gain?

From what ive Heard the over sized valves arent gonna do much good unless you got forced induction whether it be N2o or a BLOWER. Cant remember who i heard that from but i know i read it somewhere on the board.2001 Black S10 Xtreme 4.3L A4
*RedLineVSix*
\"Throwin sparks, draggin frame\"

I would use the money elsewhere.
With bigger valves, you get more cylinder wall scavenging.
I don't know if you would gain HP. Only real way to find out would be to get the heads worked, put them on the car, dyno, then send them back for bigger valves and dyno again.
I don't know of anyone with bigger valves on their NA 3800 either.Keith - Chicago
HP Tuners - PCM Reprogramming
97 Firebird V6 to LS1 swap
V8 9.967@132.78 1.322 60\' NA Heads/Cam
V8 10.295@128.48 1.363 60\' NA Cam Only
V8 10.987@119.31 1.422 60\' NA Stock Internals
V6 13.674@98.22 NA
V6 12.394@104.91 N20 100HP

Magnus, I think you mean more shrouding, not scavenging. This is very possible when adding larger valves. Necessary steps must be taken to unshroud the valves or you very possibly could loose power.
I wouldn't mess with the larger valves until someone proves they are worth the money with the 3800s. Stock valves w/ a nice valve job and the necessary porting will be all that most will need.
Bigger is not always better. :D

well, let him get the oversize valves and be the guy that tells everyone else if they are worth it, if he wants to that is. always has to be a first person to try it.

i would but like magnus said the only true way to tell would be me getting it dynoed with stock valves and then pulling heads again and getting oversized valves then dyno again, hey im being the first to get the 3800 fbody bored .030 over someone else can be the guinea pig for the valves :D

I definitely wouldn't get larger valves for an n/a motor.... even a n2o motor that's shooting less than a 150shot. Save the big valves for when you're pushing 10psi + of boost via blower or turbo.
When are you supposed to get the block bored .030 over?GM 3800 PowerPak guinea pig
\"what cam, that\'s just a nasty mis-fire...\"
