• Heads?

I'm weighing my options right now as far as what to do with my V6. Who makes the best heads for the 3800? I already have a 212/212 112 cam, just need something to compliment it. Abbott? Intense? anyone?

I havent tried anybodys heads except for Supersix motorsports. I can tell you Tom down there does great work. I would suggest using his heads. I used his heads with my 218/218 113lsa cam and it was powerfull.

I believe Intense heads flow the best, but abbott is a close second and I believe Lance said he beleives they can beat the numbers.

I have never seen flow numbers on ZZPs heads so I can't say on them

strictly flow numbers goes like this

Intense (whatever the highest stage is)
Abbott
Supersix

Although Im sure the ZZP high stage heads flow comparable to intense/abbott.

Yes i did have it dyno'd. I had SSM heads, headers, exhaust and whisper lid. put down 196HP and 212TQ. This was with a stock cam. Cam was installed later on and i know it took advantage of the heads. I didnt expect very good power numbers replacing the heads with stock cam. But thats what i got.

Anyone know how much the Abbott heads cost? Intense is $1995! I can get some pretty badass LS1 heads for that much money.

I hear Abbott sponsors another Texas V6 board, and offers great pricing for their members! They are ALOT cheaper than Intense's, and Lance feels confident that they could get pretty much the same flow and performance out of them.

www.lonestarsix.com is the board Abbott sponsors. Check them out over there!

supersix arent the best flowing heads in the world but to me they offer the best bang for the buck at only 750 for a stage 2 fully pnp'd head setup with a 3angle valve job, and comp cams valve springs and retainers. thats a deal no matter how you look at it.

I dont want to get anyone in trouble for posting non sponsor info, so I can email a complete breakdown of the Abbott setup if anyone wants it. For the amount of intense's you can get complete heads, cam and ported and polished upper and lower intakes.

My Abbott Racing Heads flowed 3 cfm less than Intense's Stage 3's, the difference, my intake vavles are 1.84", intense uses 1.900". A head flowing as much with that much of a smaller valve will pretty much always run better because the velocity will be a lot higher. My dyno #'s are in the sig. if you've never seen them. All motor with the belt off. The best pull with the belt on has been 261/249. This is on a 63000 mile stock shortblock and the heads milled to 9.5 to 1 compression. stock is 9.4.

ZZP says that they port their heads specifically for the L36 and different heads for the L67. Where as they say that INTENSE ports theirs for only the L67.

Not to belittle Abbott's stuff, but SSM's come fully assembled with 915 springs for $750. I believe he will also mill the heads at that price, but I'm not certain.

Howver both are excellent products at excellent prices! You can't go wrong with either.
