  • Post here if interested in a *real* on the fly programmer for the 3.8

Hey everyone, been looking around for a programmer for our cars. Anything, even professional stuff.

Best thing I have found so far, if they will make a version for our cars, is LT1 edit (just finished the ls1 version).

The ls1 version costs $550, with pleeenty of features -- http://members.tripod.com/CarProgrammer/LS1features.htm. This is pcm locked (to one chip), 100 for each extra. It is $2500 if you want it to be unlimited (e.g. commercial purposes).

Website for the program is carputing.com

Connects up to a laptop, and you can program away, modify everything you need to, and it will tell you what the car is doing (yeah, its a scanner too.)

I would much rather pay 550 for an all in one from a proven solution than 300 for a maft+, then 300 for a hypertech, then another 300 for a scanner, wouldn't you?

The purpose of this thread is to get a petition of sorts going to help sway their opinion in what their next programming project will be. I have e-mailed them and they are saying the 3800 is a definite consideration, esp the supercharged version (hey, if it they get it to work on the L67, shouldn't take much at all to get it to work on the L36).

So, if you are willing & interested in spending say 600 on lt1 edit for our cars (I just rounded off the price, I don't have any insider information besides what I said in the above paragraph), post here.

I'm off to go to clubgp to make the same post :)

You can obviously consider me one vote.

    Later.

Edit: The URL of the post I made at clubgp is http ://www.clubgp.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6387346&FORUM_ID=1&CAT_ID=1&Top ic_Title=Interested+in+a+%2Areal%2A+3%2E8+programm ing+tool%3F&Forum_Title=ClubGP+%2D+General if you are at all interested in seeing if our supercharged brothers like the idea.

i'd definitely get that, but when i emailed them(about a month ago so it may have changed i guess) they said they would not make one for the 3.8L. said they had plenty of work for themselves right now.
i was swimming in the carribean. animals were hiding behind the rocks except for the little fish, but they told me the squid\'s trying to talk to me. oink, oink. where is my mind?

LT1/LS1 edit is a great program. If it's available for the 3.8 I would buy it in a heartbeat. Count me in.

I'll jump on that one, because I found a program that would work on our cars, but it ran close to $1800 with hardware, so $600 is a definite.

definately count me in. will that let you raise or change the rev limiter and shift points along with adjust for air /fuel mixture and allow timing to be advanced or retard? if it does this im in. one more question do you have 2 have a laptop to use this??

                    You know what...

I'm going to look into doing my own programming. Those prices are ridiculous.

I will download my own PCM file, hack it up, and then upload it.

If I am successful, I will do everyones PCM's for a much cheaper price than that.

Count me in. That's cool as hell. I could have the RJS system communicate with my car's computer in two way fashion.

If I knew how to get the data out of the PCM, I could hack it easily. It would be like figuring out the V6 F-Body genome. Easy for me.

I'd likely open-source it because that's the way I do things. I'm a Linux guy.

Provided nobody used it for profit, that is.
