  • 3.8 Piston to Valve clearances??

looking to upgrade the rockers on my car, my current lift is .512 on both intake and exhaust. With the upgraded rockers, i will be seeing right around .544 on intake and exhaust.... Anyone else have a high lift cam of this size??? Would i be putting little dents in the pistons????

Clearance should be enough, but do you have modified heads or retainers? What valve springs are you running?

on any motor you need atleast .060 on the intake and atleast .120 on the exhaust side. also, .032 isn't much more lift, you should be perfectly fine.

With that much lift, make sure you either have the heads modified or use the ZZP retainers so you don't hit the valve seals.

Also make sure your springs are up to the job. I don't know what LS6 springs are rated at, but with even higher lift you don't want any valve float.

I am running that much lift, no problems as long as you modify the heads for it (valve seals/guides/retainers). Duration plays as big or bigegr role in PtoV clearance than lift does. You're in the clear, don't worry about (so long a you put the cam in right an not advanced or retarded crazy).
