Making An AutoTap Cable?

Is this even possible? Ive found a place online that sells the OBD 2 connector for 11$, I figure that gives me a pretty good start on building a cable. I've just got to find some kinda of wiring schematic that tells me which wire goes where according to the pin locations on the OBD 2 connector and the serial connector on the other end.If anyone can offer me some help id appreciate it.

Umm, I read those posts and i have no idea what the translation box is even for. All i want is the cable so that i can plug it in to A laptop. ALl i want to know is what pin on the obd connector goes to what pin on the serial connector.

It's not so much an issue for that i don't think, Jason...
you actually need that box to run with autotap, because the hardware is what helps with the software output.
now, a hardware schematic would be ideal, what goes where, and whatever else...
heck, at our next redline meeting, maybe we can *carefully* take the casing off my AT :D

It consists of a OBD II plug to a serial plug which plugs into that translator box to anouther serial plug and then to your lap top. I would be very interested if somebody could make that OBD II plug to a serial plug and then the translator box. In that box is that lets you either scan all cars or just GM cars or just Ford.

Do scanners usually have these translation boxes? My hpp3 for example does not. I wonder if the "box" is just a noise filter?
