  • Need new computer for 3.8L

The first day I bought my car me and my brother took it to the car wash and like an idiot I used the engine cleaner stuff and cleaned the engine bay. Well it turns out I got some of the cleaner in the computer and it messed it up. My mechanic cleaned it up, flashed it and put it back in my car. The car runs fine except for the missfire that always kicks in when I hit third gear when driving normally and sometimes it stumbles a alittle when cruising at 60 in 5th gear. Anyways, Im trying to locate a place to purchase a new computer for a 2000 camaro with 5 speed tranny. A diagnostics scanner wont even read the codes when they scan it at Autozone and my SES light never comes on when it should when im having missfires like crazy. It only missfires occasionally when im flooring it down the track and when it does the whole car shakes and I can hear a like a clicking sound coming from under the car. I was running consistent 16.02-16.1's at the track and when i hit the the missfire I ran an 18. I think I may have a bad coil or sparkplug wire thats causing the missfire, I just cant scan the ECU and find out where its coming from. If anyone can help me out, it would be a big help. Thanks

can the dealer scan the pcm? Your connectors should have those weather pack seals to prevent water from FUBARing the pcm like that.

I havent really tried the dealership yet. Do you think the local Chevy dealership would charge just for them to scan it? Also my mechanic told me that the yellowish-green engine cleaner was all in the PCM so I know some had to have got in it.

I have a PCM from a 01 m5 that Ill sell you for 60 shipped. You can have the dealer flash it with your VIN and just swap them when they finish.

60 bucks! I'll take that. My mechanic said a new computer for my car would be $400+. I hope we are talking about the same thing here because there is a huge difference between these prices. Also will the PCM out of an 01' work in an 00'?
