my dad ports cylinder heads for a living so i get free training!! i just cant do the heads on my car because its my transportation and if i mess it up im screwed...i would try to help but its hard to explain over a computer...just dont get too froggy with the bits, just remember you cant put back what you take out...and if you just get one of those head porting kits with all sanding rolls, your pretty much just wasting your time, just sanding the ports wont do much...also, dont just grind out at the flange, you will get more flow from taking metal out of the bowl area, ALSO!!, do not grind on the short turn, that area is really really criticle, i would just suggest sanding it, ive been around and doing a little head porting myself for about 4 yrs and i still have no idea how to do the short turns properly...

Good advice. The ports are fairly large on these engine. So spots you should touch, others need more attention.

If found the valve guides to be a large restriction on the exhaust side. A little cleaning up there will help alot. On the intake side, you can widen the port marginally and grind down/fill the injector boss holes(only need for the L67).

Most of my efforts were spent around the bowl area and around the seat area.

I left the intake ports ruff and polished the combustion chamber and exhaust ports.

hehe actually I did know that

I also know you do not want he intake to be plished too well you need turbulence to help improve air/fuel mixture in the cumbustion chamber.

I was looking more into the intake.

Basically, I was thinking buying a lower intake, a middle intake on a 2.8 or 3.1L port the hell out of it and had some plans for the cutsom part pon top, I wonder if I could get some gains form this.... Any thoughts by a upper intake and lower intake floow alot better.
