The topic is pretty vague but basically I bought a used 96 3.8l V6. It was a step down from the BMW I traded in but as I drove it I learned that I could reach the 125 mark and still not be redlining in the 4th gear.
My first question would be if I still haven't redlined in the 4th can my car go faster than 125? Also can I just have my mechanic switch the speedo with one from a z28 or trans am if it does.
Yes you can get a speedo from a z28 put in. Looks at all the f-body store sites and find a custom one you like... You just need to recalibrate, which you can buy that "tool" on the same sites.
Top speed in out cars are 118mph until you "hack" the computer to disable the fuel cut off. There is a "tool" that can do that and the speedo together.
If your speedo read 125 then is not reading right. Your speed limiter is set a 118 from the factory due to the speed rating of the tires. you can disable it with tuning but I don't recommend this until you get better tires and brakes even more so if you have rear drums because the car wasn't really designed to go over 118 v6 wise.

Well the speedo goes all the way to 125 mph. Also i know for a fact that the stock computer has been modified and some other mods have been applied as it is pulling 300 rwhp instead of the stock 200.

300 from that stuff, lol, just to funny cuz it isn't gonna happen with just some bolt ons. 300 hp you need some major engine internals to do it with out a force induction on it.

i'd give it maybe 185-190 rwhp with full exhaust and some other stuff probably.
You might want to do some research on here and see just how much power people do get from mods and such before you start throwing out huge hp numbers like 300 NA.
