  • tom at supersix had this to say

I rechecked my compression with the engine warm and the throttle wide open. 150 was my results, tom said for a n/a car best would be 180. He said i can have my heads milled some more, have someone put 4 more degrees of advance in my cam which already has 4* of advance in it, use thinner head gaskets. My question is, how much more can i get the heads milled without running into any problems? they are already milled .020. I would also like opinions on if anyone thinks getting the compression raised 30 more psi would actually make a big difference at the track? Thanks for any help

That will come down to doing the mathematic formula to establish how much static compression you will be making with what gaskets, and how much you actually have the heads shaved to.

Generally you'll gain 4% more power for every point in compression you raise.

    9.4:1 to 10.5:1 with 200 horsepower will gain almost 9 horses (8.8)

With your cam and head work, I assume you're making 250 hp? So, 9.4:1 to 10.5:1 would net you 11 horsepower. Roughly

so if i get the zzp head gaskets which are supposed to raise the cr some and have the heads milled some more my cr should go up about ,approx. how much? With the supersix pack and milled heads it supposed to be 9.8.1-10.1 already approx. in your opinion will getting my compression from 150 psi to 180 psi make a huge difference in the 1/4? what would you guess tenth wise, thanks

I wonder if I have one of those "factory freak" engines or someithing.

 I hate that ridiculous word, my compression is 150 because my cam is a poweradder cam 114ls, i sold my nitrous kit so i will be n/a. tom at supersix said for poweradder 150 compression is where you want it and n/a 180 or so. when i change my ls and use thinner gaskets my psi will go up. my car ran very well before the supersix pack i just need to get my car tuned for the fuel now

when you do a compression test..

you just put the piece in the spark plug socket... start up the car.. and it will read out your compression?

im gonna have to do that just to check up on things

Look at the MLS head gaskets at www.intense-racing.com

they have thinner ones claiming to increase compression ratio .1:1

thats cool, but zzp also sells thinner head gaskets which say they increase compression by .2 so if you have 9.4.1 it will boost you up to 9.6.1 but they are 159.00

Are intense and zzp affiliated with eachother? They both sell the exact same stuff and the prices are exactly the same, one thing is different, zzp says .2 increase with the gaskets, intense says .1
