• cam selection..........

im lost; i thought i knew what i wanted, but i might be going overboard with this whole thing.

current performance mods:
ram air/hood/intake, 3"gmmg cat back,bosch, plat.4's,taylor wires

Im running 15.0's and 14.9's consistantly

Winter plans:
Jet Hot pacesetters/egr sim
carsound 3" cat (bought)
P&P heads (heads bought, not P&P yet)

parts that rely on cam selection
springs, pushrods, Compcam 'OE' lifters, stock 1.6 rockers, pushrods.

The cam i was going with was 218/218 113lsa 110 ic

However, it came to me that this is a big *** cam for a 3800. This is going in a daily driver, (until the truck fairy brings me something else) I dont care about gas mileage(if i dont waste gas, someone else will), but i do care about drivability and reliability. it will be driven in the winter time.

So I am open to opinions on an alternate cam, #'s?

Maybe a sound clips from seppo?

Magnus, i heard your clip from another post, what were the cam specs and your idle rpm?

OneQuickV6, i know it works for you

I was the first one to use the 218/218 113lsa comp grind and it worked great for me. Drivability may be an issue. It depends on how comfortable you want it to be. The 218 grind runs very strong and is streetable in ways of the car never stalls at idle probly dont use much more gas then a stock cam but the part you might not like is this cam is big and it shakes the **** out of the car. My car would rock back and forth at idle. I liked it. I dig that ****. but others may find it uncomfortable. I didnt even set an ses light and i did pass emissions with it. So i would say its very streetable but it is also agressive and somewhat uncomfortable to some people.

Email me i have soundclips.

Dito! I however have set an SES light for multiple random misfires in the past. Maybe once a month, it'll stay on a couple minutes and be gone. Once I got the headers on, for some reason it occured even less. I love this cam!

the rocking doesnt bother me, the gmmg shakes and rattles everything anyway, whats a little rocking? as long as im not seasick i think i can live through it..

anyone near md have an aftermarket cam?
i was concerned with emmissions, but im getting all the sims, possibly pcm programming.. the not stalling at stop lights is a huge + for me

anyone else have feelings about this?

For a 'maro or 'bird I would need runner length
of intakes too, and the exhaust section is
critical. Unless your flow figures are all wacked,
I would think soem of these grinds are highly compromised
due to the touchy ECU that GM uses. Is it a
Mass Air system on most years?
There are no aftermarket cams for the Fords and
I have developed soem really good running grinds,
but this GM ECU might be trickier...

sizes of componentry where it asks for it.
I do not know much of these V6 specs.
