ECM/Computer Question?

Ok I've done as search and also jumped over to Magnus's site on PCMs and such with no luck.

Here is my question

Is there a way to tell without actually hacking into the cars computer to see what Gear ratio it was for?

I Just ordered a 97 3.8 Auto PCM and wondered when it gets here if I can read the numbers on in and tell what type of gearing it is set up for being 3.08s or 3.42s?

not by the #'s on the exterior.. however if you read the VIN with a scan tool from that PCM I could tell you what gear it was for.

So I'd have to physically Hook it up to my car to scan it with autotap or is there an eaiser way?

I could do that but I think I'd rather just plug it in my car since I don't already have that setup.

The pinout for those PCMs are listed on your site correct? In case I want to set that up in the future?
