  • How much lift is possible?

How much lift can you run on the 3.8 before you have to worry about valve to piston clearance?

    Depends on the duration.

At .520 lift you start to press on the valve seals if you did not mill the pedastals.

        .528 should be ok..

PEDASTALS.. not the heads.. the valve pedastals is where the valve seal sits on.

Hmm. I'd think it'd be over .520". My cam at .528 doesn't cause this to my knowledge, and I say this only because my car doesn't have any sort of oil consumption issues.

darn that is lousy for you guys...
our V6 Ford stuff can endure .650"
and stil have the .050" minimum
              covered easily. Chevy valvetrain
is usually pretty good in most areas.

RGR, thats the thing it isn't a Chevy motor its a Buick, these motors don't even adhere to the normal chevy bolt patterns.
