Thanks for the concern magnus. Thats really cool of you man.

Anyhow, I fixed the bearing, so far. When I popped it back in, it seemed kinda wierd, but it wouldn't spin in the hole (good sign) but I put jb weld (I know I hate to say I did this) around the bearing (oil holes exluded) and then slid it back into the seat. Let it dry for a day and a half.

Got the new cam in without knocking the bearing out or loosening it in any way.

Haven't got to work on it all week because I have been at work, but I have the heads back on, front cover on. Almost there. I will keep you posted.

On a similar note, I will be getting an ls1 put in during spring break next year.

Anyone want to buy an L36 shortblock with "reinforced" cam bearings??

I'm curious how this holds.

Figure there are 3/4 functioning bearings... its gonna be interesting.

Well, I went to the jb weld website. It says for automotive use, and one of the applications is "pressed in bearings" It can handle up to 500 degrees F and has a very high shearing strength. It is impervious to oil, gas, etc.

I think it will hold. Worth a try, would have needed a new block anyways.

Its a complicated process only to be done in a machine shop by professionals. :D
Seriously, it is. I wouldnt recommend trying to change them out at all.

UPDATE!!!!
SHE LIVES!!!!!
Car is AWESOME! Nobody thinks its a 6 anymore..
JB weld is holding good so far...
I have nasty misfires under load now in cyl 6 only. Gotta be a plug or wire or injector. Definately not cam related.

I love it!

EDIT -Replace plugs and wires. Runs like a champ.

It sounds F'n great. I have people stop and look at it all the time. People stopped at stop lights with me roll down their windows to listen and point. Its great.

I will get a clip as soon as I can.
