  • Heads/Cam Issues and Resolutions

I apologize if this thread is old news, but I did not find all the information in one central location.

When upgrading the heads/cam, whether the Super Sixx pack or through a local shop, what issues have you encountered? Just the same, what resolutions did you find to these issues, if any?

Please include the need of additional components that may have been forgotten. Maybe an adjustable fuel regulator, computers issues, new fuel pump/headers, etc. Whatever, let's just list everything.

    Thank you in advance.

Here's a thread that you missed.

The fuel pump that everyone is using is made by Walbro. I think Magnus lists everything. He didn't mention springs, well, they're offered with the SSM PP. To add, I remember someone saying that they showed their SSM heads to a mechanic or something and he said that they're the best he'd ever seen.

yes, that was me. toms work is superb. my mechanic actually had other shop owners come by and take a look at toms work. he did say that he had never seen porting and polishing done so well and was very impressed.
tom is the man, i bet everyone would agree.
he found out i was having trouble with my car and emailed me to find out more. i dont believe the power pack is the cause of my troubles, more like my lack of knowledge of engine mechanics is my problem.
the power pack is not a simple bolt on. or maybe it is and my car just needs to be fixed anyway.
i recommend the power pack 100%. i just ask you know something about engines before you do it.

Please let me clarify, my fault....

Any during or post head/cam installation issues that anyone experience with resolutions.

I am trying to create a list that can be printed or revisited in the future.

        Thanks

there are no real issues during installation. any shop can do it.
you will also need a full gasket set for the installation, a new timing chain (to be safe), how about some new plugs while you are at it. any shop will tell you this. after the install you will definately need the maft+ and an autotap (to be safe).
