This a great time saver for changing cams.
This tool goes through the push rod holes and pulls up the tappets with a high powered magnet, so the cam may be removed without taking the intake off.
This saves 2.5 to 3 hours.

I have changed twelve camshafts this year using the Tappet Tool. It's a time saver.

Im about to order this thing. Has anybody ever used one? I had a question about it. I know what it does and how it works holding up the lifter and all. But how do you get the magnet to release the lifter?

Any reason why it wouldnt work with our cars?

since our lifters are roller aren't they connected in pairs?? so this seems like it would make pulling the lifter out with a magnet impossible..

Well you dont have to pull out the lifter you just have to lift it up. And no I dont think ours are connected in pairs?

I was always taught when you put in a new cam you need new lifters though.. because the lifter will kinda conform to the cam lobes... maybe that's just for flat tappet cams though.. I could be wrong..

also if I remember right the pic in the haynes manual shows em being connected...

That is only for flat tappet cams. Im pretty sure there not connected. Can we get confirmation from anybody that has pulled out a lifter? I am just assuming they are not connected based on pictures I have saw. But yes I would like to know.
