  • Cam swap guys, need help REALLY FAST!

Ok I am putting the front cover back on the motor, and there is a dot to align the crankshaft with some teeth (for the oil pump), the dots can't align perfectly, so do they just come close or do they go opposite each other???

the dot on the crankshaft sprocket should be in the 12 o clock position, the dot on the cam sprocket should be at the 6 oclock position. they line up pretty damned close...they don't line up 100% perfectly, but if you move the timing chain over to the next "hump" in either direction, the dots will be way off.

unless you're not talking about those dots? :D

it doesn't matter how the oil pump splines are oriented anyway. if it does, i musta got REAL lucky. had my front cover off, spun the oil pump around a bit & mine went together no problems..i don't remember any dots on the oil pump.

Sorry I had some RTV sealant drying so I went ahead and just put the front cover on.
It didn't say anything in my manual about it, so I figured it didn't matter.

Awesomeame - Not the timing chain marks, but there is one for the oil pump, your right I believe the don't really have to line up.
            Thanks fellas.
