• idle and WOT max MAF readings???

hey what are you guys' MAF readings (lbs min or g sec, either) at idle and at high rpm WOT (right before say 1-2 shift)? and what mods do you have?

slp cold air, whisper lid on my 99 i get .64 lb min idle and just under 20 lb min at WOT. no difference between clean new K&N and stock new AC air filter.

Hey ... this is a great question. I ported and polished my throttlebody, but didn't have the atuotap before I did it. I wanted to compare some readings before and after to see what exactly would need to be tuned afterwards.

After P-n-P (with mods in sig):

Idle: MAF "reads" `0.75 lbs/min
(Note that the MAF screen IS in place or the idle reading varies between 0.55 and 0.91 lbs/min. )

WOT @ 5200 rpm: MAF "reads" 22.87 lbs/min

Air fuel at above WOT "reads" 11.9

On a side note ... porting and polishing WILL require you to do some creative MAF metering plate rework to get the MAF even in the ballpark...

Before.. around 22..

After P&P around 28..

If you remove the lower half of the post on the 95-98 TB, you MUST remove the rear plate or you will be running VERY lean at WOT.

wow guys... do you have the SSPP or what???
i may hit the 20 lb/min mark at WOT right before 1-2 shift. on straight road of course... uphill i might suck in a little more...

but you guys are in the mid 20's??? that's excellent... i may have to polish this electronic TB (very carefully...)
and in case you were wondering my MAF screen is staying in.....

99 (drive by wire) vs older 3800's make a difference you think???

Before exhaust, and before playing with maft:

idle: .58-.61
WOT: 22.5-22.9, 5061-5460rpm, 37-40mph

It's lower now. Still need to figure out what I'm doing with the maft...

strange_trp, your #'s are fine. They are exactly what they should be.

Add exhaust and they may go up a little..

But one thing is.. the MAF #'s are matched up with LT #'s to produce the desired air/fuel ratio..

Now I see 29lb/min at WOT.. BUT!!! my LT's are -13 or so. ...

my maf is not calibrated.
