ok my 95 3.4 is gettin up there in the mileage department so i'd like to drop something new but i'm thinking of taking a different approach than most others. i still want a v6 because i think a modified v6 that could spank v8 cars would be awesome, here is my plan...i wanna get a 4.3 s-10 motor and slowly build it on a stand with high performance parts and eventually supercharge it. i'm not sure how the modified monster would turn out all i knwo is i've been smoked in my 3.4 camaro by 4.3 s-10's. does anyone think this will be a good idea? would it be worth the time and money? i've always wanted my car to be something special i think this would definetly make it stand out.

Anything can be done. You may have to modify the firewall, get a cowl induction hood, change your computer, possibly custom headers. However if you have the money and want the only 4.3 powered F-body around do it.I have made a lot of money in my life, most of which I spent on cars and women.
The rest I have blown.

You would need either the s10 tranny or a v8 f-body tranny to bolt to it. Remeber that all 4.3 liter engines are Throttle Body Injection like OneQuickV6 said. I personally would not go from MPFI to TBI.92 S10 2.5
3800 Swap under construction!
New SN: RedFrk13

If you're going to do all the work, and possable more than a 'normal' swap, why dont you use a real engine...
My dream would be a z06 engine! Why not swap that in there; 0-60 in 4sec, 405 base hp! c'mon, screw the v6 just to call it a v6.. make it a fast v8

I've looked into doing this swap before and I didn't really think it was worth it. They only have like 180 HP stock. It is true however that there is a pretty big aftermarket for these engines. Some basic info: The 4.3l is supposed to be the same as the 5.7l but with 2 less cylinders. In theory, the motor mounts should be the same, but I've never taken a look at them. Your biggest problem (IMHO) would be clearance, not only on the top end, but also the oil pan. You would also have to get some custom computer work done to make everything run right. Not to be discouraging, but I think I might be a better idea to swap in a 3.8 or an LT1 or LS1. You might also want to check out www.machperformance.com. Bill Mach is the 4.3l guru. Sorry about the long post.

Not ALL 4.3s are TBI. They do have versions of the 4.3 in CMPI and CSPI. On a side note, you might be better off putting a 3.8 in there than a 4.3 and then take it from there.2004 Dodge Dakota 3.7 litres of raw power!!
Nothing but a 6!
Do you know for sure? John 3:18

hehehe, 427 twin turbo LS6 would be my dream engine. actually, get a 6.0 liter iron block V8 out of a 99 silverado and use that and just put all the LS6 stuff on it since it's the same block except mroe deck height and it's iron.2001 Arctic White Firebird
More mods than I\'m allowed to list!

I'd like to see a cfi 4.3 in an f-body,you can get alot of power outta those(stock is 190 hp but the motor responds well to mods, they even have sc's for 'em)Wolf
95 black t-top camaro,3.4 5 speed,ud pullies,plugs/wires,de-shaft tb & gutted airbox, homemaid short throw shifter

You might want to use a engine that DOESN'T use a distributor in the back of the block.......just a thought.....

Yes, i shouldnt have said all. I know their are CMPI and CSPI versions of the 4.3, i just consider them a hizuit TBI setup. There is even one MPFI version found in the syclone but they are extremely hard to find and expensive.92 S10 2.5
3800 Swap under construction!
New SN: RedFrk13
